Delegation of Abruzzi and Molise

The tournament of sword and foil was held at the ducal castle of Alessandro in Pescolanciano (IS), which saw, in addition to the patronage of CONI and the Municipality of Pescolanciano, also that of the Constantinian Order. On the occasion of the three hundred years since the publication of the equestrian and sword treatise of Duke Giuseppe d’Alessandro, the Delegate Duke Ettore d’Alessandro, with his family members, supported the sporting initiative, ensuring the presence of a group of Molise Knights in mantle when the young fencers received the sacred blessing from the local parish priest, Father Francesco Corazzari, in the chapel of the manor. Father Francesco, assisted by Prof. Giulio de Jorio, informed the numerous public present about the reorganized SMOC Delegation for Molise, giving another blessing. At the end of the tournament the young winners among the many schools of fencing participants were awarded in the presence of the master Filippo Romagnoli (coach of the national foil) and master Mimmo Di Paola.
The combination of spirituality, sport and chivalrous traditions was well received by those present at the event and by the local press and television.

On sunday, July 16 2023, the Delegation of Abruzzo and Molise met in the noble and Bourbon city of Venafro, ancient Land of Molise, to celebrate the beginning of the summer and the holiday period. This year the Feast had a great significance for the investiture of new confreres. Numerous Knights and Dames with their families and military and civil authorities of the regions of Abruzzo and Molise intervened. The new Knights, before receiving the investiture, gathered in prayer retreat for the “Vigil of Arms”, according to the ancient rite of chivalry, assisted and guided by the Chaplain, Knight of Ecclesiastical Grace Don Mauro Colarusso and the Delegate. The Knights, the Dames, all in cloak, and the aspirants, in procession, entered the Church of San Nicandro preceded by the Labaro of the Delegation and the Cross, welcomed on the churchyard by the Delegate and the Celebrant and together they went to the altar for the evocative and emotional ceremony of Investiture followed by the Solemn Mass.  The music that accompanied the liturgical celebration was particular, performed by the Schola Cantorum of the “Costantiniana Chapel” of the Delegation of Abruzzo and Molise, coordinated by the Master organist Marciano Oliva. Lunch followed with the toast of good wishes for an excellent summer and with the communication of the next Spiritual Retreat to be held in the Sanctuary of Castelpetroso on September 14, 15 and 16.

Tagliacozzo (AQ), 16 April 2023 – The Easter Precept of the Knights and Dames of the delegation of Abruzzo and Molise was held on the day of the Municipal festivity of the city of Tagliacozzo.
The celebrations were attended by many of our confreres accompanied by the Delegate and by Father Ennio Grossi, Knight of Ecclesiastical Grace of the Diocese of Avezzano, and numerous inhabitants of the district of Marsica present for the procession of the Holy Face.
Authorities of the Marsican area participated, represented by their Mayors. They were received with the honors by the Mayor of Tagliacozzo, city awarded with the Constantinian Gold Medal, our Knight Vincenzo Giovagnorio.
The delegations of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre also participated, with the Principal Dr. Gregorio Santino, and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, with the Delegate Dr. Fabrizio Venturini who paraded with our delegation in the procession along the streets of the town. The Holy Mass was presided by Reverend Cardinal Enrico Feroci, concelebrated by our brother Father Ennio Grossi together with many priests of the Diocese of Avezzano and the towns of Marsica.

On 24th of April 2022 the delegation of Abruzzo and Molise gathered in Tagliacozzo (AQ) for the feast of the Patron Saint of our Order Saint George and for the Easter Precept.  The celebrations were attended by many of our Knights accompanied by the Delegate and Chaplain Father Ennio Grossi, Knight of Ecclesiastical Grace of the Diocese of Avezzano, the Delegations of the Orders of Malta and the Holy Sepulchre and numerous inhabitants of the Marsica district present for the procession of the Holy Face, greeted with affection by our Knight Mayor Vincenzo Giovagnorio.

After the Holy Mass, presided by the Bishop of Avezzano, H.E. Mons. Giovanni Massaro, and concelebrated by the parish priests of the Marsicano district, all participants paraded in procession through the streets of the town. The Bishop of Avezzano gave the blessing with the effigy of the Holy Face in Piazza dell’Obelisco.

The festival of the Holy Face represents an exceptional event for the Marsicano district that has been handed down for centuries. For this occasion many citizens of Tagliacozzo and the towns of Marsica, that emigrated to many parts of the world, return to their homeland to remember their deep attachment to the places where their roots are located. H.E. the Bishop greeted the Knights and Dames present of the three prestigious Equestrian Orders, Constantinian, Malta and Holy Sepulchre, by participating in a beautiful group photo. The three delegations have always been very close and united in the rescue activities towards the weakest and the choral participation in this event shows how strong the bond is.
