SICILY: TWO FELLOWSHIPS HAVE BEEN FUNDED AT THE SPECIAL DENTISTRY DEPARTMENT OF ACIREALE HOSPITAL

Acireale, May 7th, 2020 – H.E. Archbishop Antonino Raspanti, Bishop of Acireale, and lawyer Antonino Amato, representative for the city of Catania, have visited the special dentistry department of Acireale Hospital this morning. This was an opportunity for hospital officials to thank the Constantinian Order for having given the department the sum of 10,000.00 euros, thanks to which two fellowships for two professionals, dr. Leocata and dr. Scoglio, have been funded.

A distribution of products for children took place on April 24th at the major church of Carini. The vice delegate delivered to Father Giacomo Sgroi, archpriest of Carini, several supplies of diapers and homogenized. Food was therefore distributed to around 400 needy people.

On the anniversary of the feast of St. George, Father Dario Pavone celebrated a mass in his honor on Facebook in the presence of Knight Marco Milazzo at the Church Saint Stephen in Piazza Armerina.

Mr. Francesco D’Alba, president of the Constantine Cross Onlus of Sicily, the representative of Balestrate Mr. Piero Spezia and Marquis Amari handed over to the mayor of Balestrate dr. Vito Rizzo, to the municipal councilor Mrs. Maria Saputo and to the councilor Mr. Pietro Taormina, many food packages which will be distributed by the civil protection to the needy people of Balestrate.

On the occasion of the solemnity of Saint George a distribution of products for children took place in Monreale, at the premises of the church Maria SS. degli Agonizzanti. Monsignor Michele Pennisi personally distributed the products to many families with children. Archbishop Pennisi was assisted by the vice delegate and volunteers Lia Giangreco and Mari Luisa Ferrante.

On April 23rd, the Sicilian delegation symbolically participated in the Mass for the Solemnity of Saint George, celebrated by Father Giorgio Terrasi at the Church S. Francesco di Paola in Palermo. The Holy Mass was transmitted on skype.

On April 10th, Good Friday, the commander of the Carabinieri in Grottole, Mr. Claudio Colucci, who was already given a medal of merit of the Order, decided to promote a fundraising campaign among the policemen of the station, to allow the purchase of Easter eggs that will be offered to needy children of the community. This is another sign of closeness and concrete commitment from the members of the Constantinian Order towards the needy.

The current government regulations have increased requests for assistance to all those structures in Catania which support the needy people of the city. For this reason, Massimo Putrino, Giuseppe Longo, Salvatore Dell’Aria and Antonino Amato distributed food to the Missionary Sisters of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who serve hot meals to the needy and to the Vincentian Sisters, who help several families in difficulty.

On April 11st, the vice delegate handed over many products (diapers, homogenized products, canned tomatoes) to Father Vittorio Rizzone and to Father Giuseppe La Rocca. These products will be distributed to needy families. Several protective masks were also delivered.

On April 15th the vice delegate accepted the request for help from the parish priest Francesco Di Pasquale by offering him some products of the project “Briciole di Salute”. Homogenized, baby pasta, diapers and some candies were delivered at the Church of Saint Anthony, located in Palermo.

On April 20th the vice delegate and Mr. Vincenzo Nuccio delivered around fifty washable and reusable masks to Father Saverio Maria Cento.
