SICILY: “BRICIOLE DI SALUTE” IN DIFFERENT TOWNS OF THE TERRITORY

On January 8th, the vice delegate delivered several products to Monsignor Salvatore Grimaldi, parish priest of the Basilica La Magione in Palermo. The donation is part of the project “Briciole di Salute”.

On January 10th, the delegation delivered approximately 300 kg of pasta to the Benedictine Caritas of S. Martino delle Scale.

On January 21st, the vice delegate delivered 120 liters of milk, diapers and homogenized to the Benedictine monastic complex of S. Martino delle Scale.

On January 22nd, the second monthly distribution of the project Briciole di Salute took place in Monreale. Volunteers Daniela Prestigiacomo, Lia Giangreco and Sonia Lo Monaco distributed diapers, homogenized products, milk, pasta, as well as shoes and clothes for children.

On January 24th, the vice delegate, assisted by Mrs. Lia Giangreco and Mrs. Giovanna Galli, gave to the person in charge of the structure Casa del Sorriso, lots of cookies as well as many pairs of shoes and croissants.

On January 24th, the vicedelegate signed an agreement with the Caritas of the Archdiocese of Monreale on the project “This land will be beautiful”, supported with the funds of the national Caritas. Maria SS. degli Agonizzanti Church will be at the disposal of the project, allowing the daily opening of the church to tourists who can admire its beauties. The delegation will provide some information brochures on the Constantinian Order and on the history of the church. This project will train and economically assist some unemployed young people.

The representation of Alcamo, headed by Mr. Pietro Francesco Mistretta, delivered food and other products to Bishop Aldo Giordano, parish priest of the Basilica Santa Maria Assunta of Alcamo.

On January 8th, the first distribution of the year for the project Briciole di Salute was held in Monreale. The Vice Delegate, along with Mr. Gregory Dendramis, Mr. Marco Scolaro, Ms. Lia Giangreco, Ms. Sonia Lo Monaco and Ms. Antonella Zito, offered products for fifty children from zero to three years old.

On January 6th, the Sicilian delegation distributed sweets and toys to children as part of the Briciole di Salute project at the Maria SS degli Agonizzanti church in Monreale. The Vice Delegate, Mrs. Giovana Galli and Mrs. Sonia Lo Monaco also distributed 100 pairs of shoes received by the association “Doniamo un Sorriso Smile Live”.

After the Holy Mass of the Epiphany, which was held at the Basilica La Magione, the traditional distribution of sweets was held in favour of the most needy children of the parish. The delegation distributed more than 100 Epiphany stockings and gifts to these children.

On December 27th, a group of knights carried out the usual food distribution as part of the “Briciole di Salute” project in Paternò.

On December 30th, the usual distribution of products for children took place at the premises of S. Stefano Church in Piazza Armerina.

On December 22nd Mgr. Salvatore Grimaldi celebrated a Mass for Knights and Dames on the occasion of Christmas. Mgr Grimaldi also announced the twinning of the parish of Magione with a parish of Senegal. Many knights and Dames, the Vice Delegate and Baron Vincenzo Calefati di Canalotti, Knight of Justice of the Order and Delegate for Western Sicily of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta attended, too.

SICILY: CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES AND THE LITURGY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

On December 4th 2019, all the activities linked to the project “Briciole di Salute” continued in Patti in favor of the Franciscan Sisters who run the “Holy Family” Diocesan House. Volunteers Tony Zarrillo and Francesco Guerrera delivered various products to Sister Rita, including cookies donated by Fratelli Costa confectionery in Piedimonte Etneo (CT).

On December 8th HE Msgr Michele Pennisi, Archbishop of Monreale and Prior of Sicily, celebrated a solemn Mass on the occasion of the Immaculate Conception at the Cathedral of Monreale. Many Knights and Dames were present. A procession took place after the religious ceremony.

Mr. Gregory Dendramis, under the Vice Delegate’s guide, went to Piana degli Albanesi to deliver food and products for the “Briciole di Salute” project.
