Messina, 23 April 2015. In the splendid setting of the Church dedicated to Saint Catherine, virgin and martyr of Messina, the priest, Monsignor Mario Di Pietro, Knight of Ecclesiastical Grace and Chaplain of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George, celebrated the Holy Mass in honour of Saint George, patron saint of the Order.
The celebration, preceded by the significant ritual of investiture of Dr. Franz Riccobono to Knight of Merit, knighted in 2014, took place in the presence of Knights and Ladies of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George, as well as the delegate of Messina for the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, Professor Giuseppe Romeo, Constantinian Knight of Justice, and the Head of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, Clodomiro Tavani, lawyer, along with a substantial group of Knights and Ladies of the Jerusalem Order, Knight of Grace.
The distinguished representatives demonstrated the particular importance that, in this context, is taken on by the solemnity of the Knight, Saint George, for the common protection and sharing of Christian values and chivalric principles. Civil and military authorities were also present.
Subsequently, the “Crumbs of Health” initiative was presented, a project of solidarity launched by the Order to help the most disadvantaged social classes and that, in Messina, will take advantage of the partnership with the parish Caritas of “Saint Catherine virgin and martyr”.
The initiative is part of the wider project, “The Hunger of our Neighbour” which the Order has launched with the aim of implementing solidarity where social need, deprivation, deviance, marginality and poverty are most felt.
