Sant’Eufemia d’Aspromonte, 17th December 2015. “The importance of service to others, especially if needy and being the last, is in keeping with the jubilee intention of this Holy Year of Mercy”. These opening remarks made by the Vice Delegate, Commander of Merit with Plate, Dr. Aurelio Badolati, in the Church of Sant’ Eufemia Vergine e Martire, marked the beginning of the “The Second Solidarity Week – Christmas for All”. The solidarity project, promoted by the Calabria Delegation for the most deprived people of the region, was made possible thanks to the large donation of basic food products given by “Esselunga S.p.A.”, one of the main Italian chain stores operating in the large-scale retail trade. Special thanks go to the Grand Prefect, H.E. Ambassador Augusto Ruffo di Calabria of the Princes of Scilla, for showing great concern towards the poorest region of Italy. The symbolic act of the donation offered to the “last” was endorsed by the celebration of a Holy Mass packed by a full congregation. In addition to the Vice Delegate, the ceremony was attended by the Knights of Merit, Rocco Gatto and Pasqualino Guerrisi.
