Pavia – 26 October 2015. The Delegation of Pavia is to launch an important charitable initiative which aims to provide needy individuals with free meals at “The Young People’s House”, a site run by the Diocese of Pavia. The facility is known to tend to the needs of young people from socially-deprived backgrounds and is committed to the delivery of humanitarian assistance to marginalised senior citizens, vagrants and families experiencing financial hardships through their management of the “The Brother’s Canteen. This project, which was launched in January 2015, has so far delivered over 1,000 freshly-made meal trays at the local branch of the Italian Red Cross. This new charity event was made possible by the generous and unfailing support of Pharmaday Srl (pharmaceutical company and distributor of wholesale items). The charitable campaign is concerned to supply 5,500 ready-to-eat pre-portioned packaged meals, suitable for elderly people whose dietary requirements include a diet rich in nutrients. A further donation of 4,000 over-the-counter medicines is to be made by leading multinational Recktt Benckiser. The initiative has the full support of the Diocesan Caritas, the Banco Alimentare, the Italian Red Cross and the Dioceses offering canteen services to the needy. The Archduke Martin of Austria-Este, the Delegate for Milan and Lombardy Count di Carpegna Brivio are scheduled to attend the event, along with the highest-ranking members of the Army, leading political figures operating at provincial and municipal level, not excepting HE the Prefect.
