SOUTH-EAST ASIA: EVENTS ON MARCH, 29 AND ON APRIL, 9TH

Bangkok, March 29, 2022 – The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Bangkok, invited the Delegation for Southeast Asia to join a Virtual Global Conference, organized in cooperation with the Global Adaptation Network (GAN) and the Asia-Pacific Adaptation Network (APAN).The Delegate, His Excellency Don Antonio Benedetto Spada, Knight of the Royal Order of Saint Januarius, appointed the Vice Delegate to attend the above said webinar on “Scaling up women’s access to climate technologies, practices, and adaptation finance  to build community resilience”, through initiatives and projects across the world, including:
 
·        EmPower: Women for Climate-Resilient Societies project, implemented in Bangladesh, Cambodia, and Vietnam, that aims to strengthen women’s participation in decision-making processes and to enable women to use renewable energy for resilient livelihoods;
·        NANUM: Connected women project that aims at empowering women as leaders of technological transformation for adaptation to climate change in Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay by training women in digital skills, and strengthening women’s connectivity and access to climate information;
·        Sudan Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) project that is enhancing community resilience in Sudan by using EbA approaches and promoting alternative climate-resilient livelihoods and gender-specific adaptation technologies; 
·        Global Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) Fund that provides rapid and targeted support for innovative approaches to EbA to climate change and to help overcome identified barriers to upscaling EbA by prioritizing filling in planning, knowledge, and resource gaps. This online session was extraordinary in bringing together women’s voices from all over the world, with live webcam connections and translation in and from Bengali and Spanish languages.

Bangkok, 9 April 2022– The Delegate for Southeast Asia, H.E. Antonio Benedetto Spada, Knight of the Royal Order of Saint Januarius, has been invited by the Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora (GKPD – Thailand section) to a Private Star cast show starting with VVIP welcome for meet and greet along with Her Excellency Madam Suchitra Durai, Ambassador of India to Thailand, Bollywood Stars Vivek Agnihotri, Director, and wife Pallavi Joshi, Producer and Actress, followed by watching a hit movie: “The Kashmir File”, at Siam Pavalai Cinema. The GKPD is an initiative to recognize Kashmiri Pandit genocide and ethnic cleansing raising public attention on those two themes irrespective of any nationality. “The Kashmir File”, for its revolutionary and realistic way of telling the genocide story of the Valley of Kashmir, with its Hindu-Muslim tensions theme, has been very well received in multiple countries with huge interest and has evoked lot of attention from global audiences, creating public awareness on the real face of terrorism. The Director has researched for four years and studied over 700 cases of Kashmir Pundits who were evicted from their homeland, sparking debates and strong reactions.

Hua Hin (Thailand), 9 April 2022 – Thanks to the generosity of the Delegate, His Excellency Antonio Benedetto Spada, Knight of the Royal Order of Saint Januarius, the Vice Delegate attended the 11th Beach Polo Charity Event at the Inter-Continental Hua Hin Hotel Resort, among VIP Thai personalities, international participants (attendees from Australia, France, Kenya, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland …) as well as Thai nationals co-members of the local NGO “Do Good for Homeland”. The event was hosted once again by the Equestrian Association of Thailand — helmed by President of B.Grimm, Dr. Harald Link — Proud Real Estate Company Limited and the Inter Continental Hotel Hua Hin Resort. Hallowed as Asia’s largest and only Beach Polo event, the competition saw top teams from across the region engaged in friendly battles for the illustrious H.R.H. Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Trophy (eldest Daughter of His Majesty King Rama X).This year’s championship marked B.Grimm’s 144th anniversary in Thailand and, true to B.Grimm’s long standing philosophy of “doing business with generosity”, came once again with a charitable aspect. All proceeds from B. Grimm Asian Beach Polo Championship will be donated towards the Nabha Foundation, a royal initiative under H.R.H. Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, that provides training, assistance and social welfare to the underprivileged.Special thanks to Madam Ronelle Stoessel.
