LOMBARDY: PHOTOGRAPHIC CONTEST IN COMO

Cernobbio (Como), November 3rd, 2019 – The awards ceremony for the 41st edition of the photographic contest was held at the marvelous Villa d’Este in Cernobbio and was attended by the Knights of Como as promoters of this important initiative. The Vice-Delegate of the region, Mr. Giuseppe Rizzani, was also present at the award ceremony, alongside the local authorities.

On October 26th the annual meeting of the Swiss delegation took place. There was a mass celebrated by the chaplain Christian Maria Vossenhenrich at the Sacred Heart of Ouchy Lausanna as well. The meeting with the president of the foundation “Integration Sports Competitions Handycaps” was preceded by a lunch at the Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanna. The delegation sponsored two athletes with disabilities. In addition, Professor André Liebich, Emeritus of the Graduate Institute of International Development Studies in Geneva, talked about the migration of new members of the European Union to Europe.

Milan, October 29th, 2019 – On. Gabriele Albertini gave a talk on the subject: “What justice for children” at the hotel Venezia in Milan. The event, sponsored by the Committee against personal and family injustices, was of great civil importance and many Knights and Dames of the Order participated. The vice delegate of Lombardy, Dr. Giuseppe Rizzani and the Lord of His Holiness Luigi Roth also attended.

Tropea, October 30th, 2019 – HRH Princess Beatrice of Bourbon Two Sicilies’ presence made Tropea’s solemn investiture ceremony even more unforgettable. During the morning, the Grand Prefect went to Porto Ercole, where the city’s mayor, Mr. Giovanni Macrì and Msgr. Ignazio Toraldo di Francia were waiting for her. Then, Princess Beatrice participated in a guided tour of the historic centre before arriving at the Cathedral of St. Mary of Romania, where she gathered for a moment of prayer in front of the grave of Blessed Father Mottola. Subsequently, the Princess met the confreres of the Congregation and the members of the UNESCO Tropea Club. In the afternoon, the solemn inauguration of new knights was preceded by a ceremony with the declaration of fidelity of the new members of the Royal Philharmonic Academy of Gerace. At the end of this first ceremony, the long procession of knights and dames arrived. The Eucharistic celebration was presided by the Archbishop Emeritus of Reggio Calabria-Bova, Mons. Vittorio Luigi Mondello, Prior of the delegation. The church was full of knights and civil authorities of the region. At the end of the celebration, the concert of the Reggio Calabria Città Metropolitan Band, established by the Royal Philharmonic Academy of Gerace, took place. After the ritual greetings and the exchange of presents, the gold medal of the Order was officially attributed to the city of Tropea.

SICILY: H.R.H. THE GRAND PREFECT VISITS S.CATERINA VILLARMOSA

On October 27th, HRH Princess Beatrice of Bourbon Two Sicilies, accompanied by the vice delegate, visited the city of S. Caterina Villarmosa for an important event: the inauguration of a street dedicated to the Constantinian knights, taking into account the humanitarian activities led by the Order and in particular by the Sicilian delegation. Mayor Antonino Fiaccato with several councilors and a large group of knights welcomed the Princess. Caltanissetta referee Antonino Tramontana, promoter of the event and the referent of Enna Matteo Bertino introduced all knights to the Princess. A long procession started from the town hall, in the presence of many citizens, towards the street where the plaque of the “Via dei Cavalieri Constantiniani” was discovered. It was created by an artisan of Monreale, Giosuè Cangemi. Once in the street that was to be inaugurated, the Mayor and the Grand Prefect immediately discovered the tombstone, blessed by the archpriest Father Antonino La Paglia. After the inauguration ceremony, Father La Paglia went to the beautiful Mother Church where the Princess offered products to needy children. In addition, in the Mayor’s Hall, after the donation of the gold medal to the city, Princess Beatrice decorated the banner with it. Princess Beatrice also presented the Mayor with a commemorative medal.
