American Delegation’s Masses for the Feast of St. George

American Delegation’s Masses for the Feast of St. George

Holy Mass was celebrated in several cities of the United States for the Solemnity of Saint George the Martyr, Principal Patron of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George on Friday, April 23 and the following days. Masses were celebrated in Atlanta, Georgia; Brooklyn, New York; Chicago, Illinois; Houston, Texas and Washington, DC. For the occasion, the Grand Master, His Royal Highness Prince Charles of Bourbon-Two Sicilies wrote to the American Delegation’s knights and dames:

Dear Knights and Dames of the American Delegation,

I greet you with joy as we celebrate the annual feast of our patron, Saint George the Martyr. While the various restrictions in course do not allow us to together commemorate this heroic Soldier who has always protected our Sacred Militia, and likewise so many of you are unable to attend the Holy Masses organized in various places throughout the United States for the feast, we are nonetheless united in the communion of prayer and confraternal solidarity.

I am sure that, following the example of Saint George, your expressions of prayer and spirituality and acts of charity in the service of God and neighbor under the excellent leadership of your Delegation, in these difficult times, will bear much fruit.

I encourage all of you to continue doing what you can, given the challenging circumstances, always recalling that we remain a united, Constantinian family, despite the momentary impossibility of regularly gathering, or in large numbers.

Know of my appreciation and support of your Delegation. As we continue to realize together the aims of our Order, let us also pray through the intercession of our patron, Saint George, for a quick end to this pandemic. May we soon greet each other in a happy reunion.

With my best wishes,
Charles, Duke of Castro,
Grand Master

[The pictured Icon of Saint George, venerated by the American Delegation, was ‘written’ by Dr. Catherine Stevenson, Dame of Merit of the American Delegation. It was blessed and presented during the visit of the Grand Prefect, HRH Princess Beatrice of Bourbon-Two Sicilies to the American Delegation, in February, 2020.]
