Inauguration of the Petrine Ministry of Pope Francis

Rome, 19 March 2013. On the occasion of the solemn opening ceremony of the Petrine Ministry of Pope Francis as Bishop of Rome, the Holy Father received the act of obedience by a representative of the Cardinals, two for each order: the bishops, priests and deacons.

Among them are our Cardinal Renato Raffaele Martino Grand Prior. The cardinals who participated in the Rite were: Em. Rev.mo mo and Mr. Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, Cardinal-Bishop of the Church of Suburbicarian Sabina – Poggio Mirteto, the Em. Rev.mo mo and Mr. Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, Cardinal-Bishop of the Church Suburbicarian of Frascati, the Em. Rev.mo mo and Mr. Cardinal Joachim Meisner, Cardinal-Priest of the Title of Santa Pudenziana, the Em. Rev.mo mo and Mr. Ricardo J. Cardinal Vidal, Cardinal-Priest of the Title of Saints Peter and Paul in Via Ostia, the Em. Rev.mo mo and Mr. Cardinal Renato Raffaele Martino, Cardinal-Deacon of San Francesco di Paola ai Monti, Grand Prior of the Constantinian Order and the Em. Rev.mo mo and Mr. Cardinal Francesco Marchisano, Cardinal-Deacon of Saint Lucia of the Banner.

This rite, together with the imposition of the Pallium and the Ring of delivery Piscatorio, took place before the celebration of the Holy Mass in St. Peter’s Square on the day of the Solemnity of St. Joseph.
