ACTIVITIES OF THE SICILIAN DELEGATION DURING THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER – CRUMBS OF HEALTH AND CARDIO PROTECTED CITY

Many actions of solidarity per were carried out also during the month of September by the Sicilian Delegation. Especially the Project Crumbs of Health which was repeated in several dioceses.
The distribution in Monreale took place between 6 and 20 September. Both times items for ovber35 families were donated: including 200 liters of milk, 60 containers of Humana 1 milk, 150 kg of pasta, 30 containers of homogenized baby food, 200 packages of biscuits and about 200 packages of diapers of various sizes.

On September 15, in Piazza Armerina, in the presence of His Most Rev Mons. Rosario Gisana, Bishop of Piazza Armerina and Knight Commander of Ecclesiastical Grace of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George, the priest of the Church of S.Stefano was provided with a donation of different types of necessities for people in need.IMG-20170905-WA0005
Meals for the “Morsel of the Poor” in Piazza Armerina were also prepared. The meals were cooked and distributed to the senior citizens who were guests of the facility.

The program Crumbs of Health was also repeated in the city of Trapani where products for children were distributed in the Church of the Sacred Heart.

Among the many activities that must be mentioned is the donation of a defibrillator to the city of Barrafranca (donated to the local soccer team) and the monthly double donation of fish (more than 50 kg per month provided from April to the present) to the soup kitchen of San Mamiliano in Palermo, on 5 and 28 September, a facility where volunteers prepare meals for needy families which can then be taken away to be eaten in the individual’s respective home.

JBML8492On September 23 H.R.H. Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro, visited Sicily to take part in a number of charity activities in the city of Noto. He was accompanied by his spouse, H.R.H. Princess Camilla, Duchess of Castro, and by his daughters, T.R.H. Princesses Maria Carolina and Maria Chiara.
During the morning the Grand Master, accompanied by Princess Beatrice of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Grand Prefect, donated three semiautomatic defibrillators on behalf of the Constantinian Order to the State Comprehensive School “G. Melodia” in Noto.

The donation is part of the vaster project titled “Cardio Protected City” that was initiated last year and that involved numerous Italian delegations, with the donation of first aid equipment for cardiorespiratory arrest.
Given the financial difficulties of many of the families of the area, and in response to a request by the Principal of the Melodia School, the Constantinian Order decided to purchase the school books required for all the students of the school for the year 2017-2018. This action inaugurated the Project “Book Coupon”. An additional donation of toys was also made for the smaller children of the School.
In the afternoon the Royal Family visited the bishopric of Noto and distributed essential items for children ages 0 to 3 years as part of the Crumbs of Health Program. They also donated a semiautomatic defibrillator to a local youth soccer team as well as clothes donated Mr He Jianxing (Entreprise HELI), Mr Ren Gael (VEGA’S) and Mr Jiang Yimin (GRASSTAR).

On Sunday, September 24, following Holy Mass celebrated in the Cathedral of Noto by His Most Rev. Eminence Mons. Antonio Staglianò, Bishop of Noto and Knight Commander of Ecclesiastical Grace, a ceremony was held to confer diplomas to several Knights and Dames of the Order. In his remarks H.R.H., the Duke of Castro and Grand Master, thanked all those who work generously to carry out the activities of the Order and pointed out that when he was young he also held the title of Duke of Noto.

For this reason, in noting the decision taken as Head of the Royal House to change the rules of succession by adopting the rule of absolute primogeniture, H.R.H. Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies stated that the title due to his second-born, Maria Chiara, be Duchess of Noto. Succession of titles in the Royal House of Bourbon Two Sicilies contemplates that the title Duke of Castro is to be attributed to the head of the Family, the title of the Duchy of Calabria to the first heir and that of the Duchy of Noto to the second heir in the line of succession.

The Exaltation of the Holy Cross is one of the principal activities for members of the Constantinian order and as such is solemnly celebrated throughout Sicily, with ceremonies in Acireale (CT), Milazzo and Palermo.
A great number of Knights, Dames and Volunteers participated in the ceremony in each of these locations, demonstrating a positive response to the invitation of His Most Rev. Eminence the Cardinal Grand Prior to celebrate this fixed appointment with dignity.

20170721_170426The activities of the Sicilian Delegation to support the needy continued during the month of July.

As has been occurring for several months the Delegation continues to provide a donation of fish to the soup kitchen of St. Mamiliano in Palermo. On July 17 Vice Delegate Nob. Antonio di Janni. Knight Grand Cross of Grace, provided the soup kitchen with 20 kg of fish. The food will be cooked and provided to the patrons of the soup kitchen, to be consumed in their
View Post respective homes.

In response to a request by His Most Reverend Eminence Cardinal Montenegro, Archbishop of Agrigento, as of last month the Delegation has been supporting the Solidarity Soup Kitchen of the Missionaria Porte Aperta community in Agrigento by providing great quantities of food.

As part of the project “Crumbs of Health” two distributions took place during the month of July in the city of Monreale, in the premises located next to the church of Maria SS degli Agonizzanti. On Wednesday, July 19, the distribution consisted of 130 liters of milk, 60 packages of diapers, 150 jars of baby food, 20 containers of milk for infants, 50 packages of cookies and biscuits and 60 kg of pasta for the families of children ages 0 to 3 years.

On July 20 the Vice Delegate, accompanied by Knight Antonino Amato, donated a swimming pool 5 meter long 3 meters wide and 1.5 meters deep to the Madonna della Tenda di Cristo in Acireale. This facility is managed by the consecrated sisters of the Madonna della Tenda di Cristo who shelter single mothers and their children.

The donation was in response to a request made over the past several months, in order to allow the children to play in the water. The pool was assembled by the Vice Delegate and by Knight Amato, with the assistance of volunteers.
The pool was inaugurated and blessed on July 22 by Don Carmelo Raspa, the priest assigned to the structure.

Piana degli Albanesi

Sicily, 22 June 2017 – On Thursday, June 22, Deputy Delegate Nob. Dott. Antonio di  Janni coordinated several Knights, Dames and volunteers to make a triple donation of goods in different areas of the region, specifically Palermo, Monreale and Piana degli Albanesi.

At 10 A.M. the second monthly distribution of products  for children aged zero to three years took place in the premises located next to the church of Maria SS degli Agonizzanti in Monreale. The donation benefited more than 30 needy families.
Shortly before noon the Deputy Delegate, assisted by Knight Commander Umberto Mendola, delivered numerous products to the head of the diocesan Caritas of  the Eparchy of Piana degli Albanesi for the children of needy families. The items were scheduled to be distributed in the course of the next few days..
In the afternoon they brought over 20 kg of fish to the volunteers of the soup kitchen of S. Mamiliano, a shelter that provides over 100 meals each day, fulfilling the double purpose of aiding the needy and providing meals that can be enjoyed in the home within the family unit
