Triveneto, October 2015.  As part of programme “The Hunger of our Neighbour” and under the coordination of Vicarious Delegate Commander Dr Giorgio Miccoli and of the Representative for the Province of Treviso, Dr Lucio Pasqualetto, Knight, Commander Dr Claudio Giust, an entrepreneur from Treviso, was responsible for the delivery of a crucial charitable operation, which provided assistance to children living in a remote village in Kenya and currently attending the “Vihingoni Academy”. Having travelled quite extensively across Africa, Asia and South America for many years now, Dr Claudio Giust, throughout this time had the chance to develop – amid much poverty – a real sense of ‘belonging together’, experiencing first-hand moments of selfless love and a determination to succeed against all odds – which contributed to his spiritual well-being. This year, upon arriving in Kenya, he met with Dr Mauro Massoni, Italian Ambassador in Nairobi (see the picture) and it was immediately evident to him  the target for his charity “mission”, perfectly in line with the Constantinian Order’s current humanitarian programme: “The Hunger of Our Neighbour”. After establishing contact with an acquaintance in Malindi, he was able to identify a clear potential objective for his charitable activity in the area: the children of the ‘Vihingoni Academy’. He subsequently proceeded to purchase a great amount of local foods (natives from the region do not consume Western type food) and upon his arriving at the site, received a movingly warm welcome. Claudio has fond and moving memories of “his children” from the village, looking somewhat intimidated and staring in wide-eyed amazement at unfamiliar people so different from them. Before taking their leave of our brother Claudio, the children performed in a choir in token of their gratitude for the event.

GRAND BALL AT THE ROYAL PALACE OF VENARIA

GRAND BALL AT THE ROYAL PALACE OF VENARIA

GALLERIA

Venaria Reale (TO), 14 November 2015. The XXI edition of the gala evening event ‘Vienna sul Lago’ (‘Vienna by the Lake’), a special evening traditionally promoting cultural initiatives alongside fund-raising entertainment, is to take place in the salons of the Royal Palace of Venaria.

HRH The Princess Beatrice of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, Grand Chancellor of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George, the oldest Equestrian Order, will be the Guest of Honour for the evening. The Order of St George has now set itself a very important goal: bringing humanitarian relief with new charity initiative “The Hunger of our Neighbour”. The project fits perfectly with the humanitarian mission of the Order: providing enough assistance to meet the primary needs of destitute individuals, for instance, by ensuring the allocation of basic necessities and seeing to it that the welfare of such individuals is attended to.

It is exactly with this objective in mind that the Organising Committee for “Vienna sul Lago” and the Italian Navy have decided to further enhance this gala evening by setting up a fund-raising event whose proceeds – under the patronage of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George – will go towards funding research on genetic and rare diseases promoted by TV charity fund-raiser “Telethon”.
