South-East Asia: 17 September 2021, Italian Embassy in Bangkok

His Excellency Lorenzo Galanti, Ambassador of Italy to the Kingdom of Thailand, accredited also to Cambodia and Lao PDR, has warmly received the Delegation to express His congratulations to the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George for its recently acknowledged capacity of observer to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP).

The Italian Embassy itself is an appreciative partner of UN-ESCAP’s work to ensure a concerted regional approach in accelerating the Sustainable Development Goals which apply to all nations acting in the post-pandemic recovery contest.

Regularly informed about the Delegation’s initiatives, H.E. Lorenzo Galanti has cordially extended His conversation to several topics and was happy to accept from the Delegate the Crest of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George as a token of a three-year long pleasant relation.

The Delegation paid a courtesy call to Mrs. Ulpiana Lama, Minister Counselor and Chargée d’Affaires of the Republic of Kosovo to the Kingdom of Thailand. The sociologist, who has a deep knowledge of Italian and French cultures and languages, guides the Embassy which is not only the first ever of Kosovo in Thailand (established one and a half year ago), but also in South East Asia, and plays a regional role with side accreditations to Brunei, Malaysia, Maldives and Singapore.

Kosovo is the second youngest country in the world, declaring its independence from Serbia on February 18th, 2008, and ruled by the International Court of Justice as a sovereign nation in 2010. 

Mrs. Ulpiana Lama, eager to know more about the values embraced by the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Bourbon Two Sicilies and the personalities who have received Their decorations all over the world, appreciated the work in joining the community efforts in coping with the economic, social and mental health effects of the pandemic.

The Acting Ambassador stressed the increasing importance of the ethical decision-making in world affairs and expressed Her congratulations for the inclusion of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George in the “United Nations -Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific” stakeholders directory in an observer capacity.

Various Holy Masses were celebrated in the American Delegation for the titular feast of the Constantinian Order, the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Together with the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre, the Constantinian Delegation celebrated a Solemn Mass at the Parish of the Visitation in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

SOUTH-EAST ASIA: THE ORDER WAS GRANTED THE STATUS OF OBSERVER AT THE UN-ESCAP

Rome, September 10th 2021 – Thanks to the fruitful commitment and the hard work carried out in South-East Asia by the Delegate, H.E. Antonio Benedetto Spada, and by the Vice Delegate, Mrs. Paola Benaglia, the Constantinian Order has obtained the status of Observer at the Economic Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific of the United Nations (UN-ESCAP – Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific). It is a very important entity which represents 53 member States and 9 Associated States in Asia and the Pacific macro-region, as well as several private stakeholders of the area, acting as a United Nations’ regional hub. It aims to promote cooperation between countries to achieve inclusive and sustainable development by promoting regional integration in order to propose responses to shared vulnerabilities, connectivity, financial cooperation and market integration.
The Order was invited to collaborate with this important organization to move forward the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development in the macro-region and for the numerous existing activities.
Mrs. Benaglia was identified as Designated Representative at the meetings also on the basis of her important experience in the field, gained as a contact person for the various institutional and social activities carried out in the Delegation’s territory.

On September 2nd, in Vienna at Palazzo Pallavicini, headquarter of the Turf Club, the oldest club in Vienna, founded in 1826, during a private ceremony, H.E. Rev. Mons. Alois Schwarz, Bishop of the Diocese of St. Pölten, received the diploma of Knight Grand Cross of Ecclesiastical Grace from the hands of the Vice Delegate of Austria Lawyer Dr. Alexander Rudolf Philipp Babinek, Vice President of the club, who expressed his heartfelt congratulations also on behalf of the Comm. Delegate Consul General Dr. Wolfgang Andreas Breitenthaler and the whole delegation. In addition to the Vice Delegate, the councilors of the delegation Knight Dr. Paul Loser and Knight Dr. Georg Ludvik, along with other Knights and members of the board of directors of the club and the board director Peter Böhler, Knight of Saint Sylvester Pope were present. H.E. Rev. Mons. Alois Schwarz expressed words of gratitude for the high honor given to him, as well as satisfaction for having joined the Sacred Constantinian Militia, showing his enthusiasm in response to the indications of the Grand Prior H.E. Rev. Cardinal Renato Martino for the role and pastoral commitment that the Bishops are called to deepen for a serious journey of Christian life and charitable action at the service of all members of the Order.
