BELGIUM: PONTIFICAL MASS IN THE PRESENCE OF H.R.H. THE GRAND MASTER

Brussels, Saturday 10 December 2022 – The investiture ceremony of the new Constantinian Knights took place at the Church of St Jacques-sur-Coudenberg under the presidency of His Royal Highness Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro, Grand Master, in companionship of Dr. Giampaolo Grazian, Secretary General.

In the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Laurent of Belgium, Bailiff Grand Cross of the Order, the rite of the Pontifical Holy Mass was celebrated.
The Celebrant was the Most Rev. Father Frédéric Testaert, O. Praem., Abbot of Postel and concelebrants were Monsignor Hrvoje Škrlec, chargé d’affaires of the Apostolic Nunciature to the European Union, Monsignor Eric Soviguidi, Permanent Observer of the Holy See to UNESCO and the Reverend Robrecht Boone, Representative of the Holy See of the International Committee of Military Medicine.
His Serene Highness Prince Charles-Louis d’Arenberg, Delegate of Belgium, Knight Grand Cross of Justice, assisted by Consul-General Gunnar Riebs, Vice-Delegate of Belgium, Knight Grand Cross of Merit, welcomed all the distinguished guests; among them the families of the deceased Knights during the last year.
H.R.H. the Grand Master proceeded to the delivery of the decorations: Vice-admiral Dario Giacomin, Knight grand officer of Merit; Baron Henry d’Anethan, Knight of Justice; Prof. Dr. Werner-Édouard de Saeger van Nattenhaesdonck, Knight Officer of Merit and Knight of Merit to Prof. Dr. Kim Christiaens and Dr. Jean-Baptiste Belge. H.R.H. the Duke of Castro also promoted to the rank of Knight Grand cross of Merit Prof. Dr. Hugo Vandenberghe , honorary vice-president of the Belgian Senate.

After the religious ceremony, all the Knights and other guests took part in a formal diner in the Brussels ‘Cercle Royal du Parc.’

AWARD CEREMONY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS IN PARIS, IN THE PRESENCE OF H.R.H. THE GRAND MASTER

On 23 November 2022, the traditional delivery of the St. George’s Scholarships, one of the Order’s various charitable activities in France, took place. The initiative aims at helping students from needy families for preparatory courses of Grandes Ecoles at Sainte Marie Institute in Antony, in the suburbs of Paris.
This year, His Royal Highness Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Grand Master of the Order, accompanied by his daughters T.R.H. Princesses Maria Carolina, Duchess of Calabria and Palermo, and Maria Chiara, Duchess of Noto and Capri, in the presence of the Director of the preparatory courses, Brother Guillaume Gervet, His Excellency Monsignor Luc Ravel, Prior of the French Delegation, the Vice Delegate, Maître Charles-Hubert Olivier, and several members of the Delegation, including Reverend Abbot Genouville, delivered four scholarships amounting to almost 22,000 euro, collected thanks to the generosity of the Order’s members in France.
At the ceremony, former students who received their first scholarships were present. They were able to join prestigious engineering schools after the admission test and for this reason expressed their gratitude to the Order.
A tour in the school and a friendly aperitif were also organised, allowing participants to talk in a convivial atmosphere.

With the special emphasis and deep emotion befitting this important milestone, His Royal Highness Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro and Grand Master, in the name of the entire Royal Family and of the whole Order, wishes to express his best wishes to His Eminence Cardinal Renato Raffaele Martino, Gran Prior, for his 90th birthday, reiterating his personal sentiments of filial devotion and friendship, as well as of gratitude for his precious spiritual guidance, and deep nourishment of the experience of Faith and Christian formation of all the members of the Order, provided since 2010.

On 26 October, the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George made a further donation at the Papal Charities in the presence of the Reverend Father Francesco Mazzitelli, Head of the Papal Charities Office. The eminent Bishop brought the greetings and gratitude of His Most Reverend Eminence Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, who, due to unforeseen commitments, was unable to attend this meeting.

For this occasion, the Costantinian Order involved some of its Italian delegations, including Abruzzo and Molise, Basilicata, Emilia-Romagna, Liguria and Sardinia, which actively participated in the event by supplying essential goods such as long-life foodstuffs.

The Secretary General of the Constantinian Order, Mr. Giampaolo Grazian also took part in this important meeting. He brought greetings of the Delegates of Basilicata and Emilia-Romagna, Mr. Massimo Calenda, Mr. Corrado Sforza Fogliani and Mr. Pietro Coppelli, who, although unable to attend in person, brought aid to the Vatican from their Delegations.

DONATION AT CAMPUS BIO-MEDICO UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL FOR THE PREVENTION OF BREAST CANCER

On Monday, October 24, HRH Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duchess of Calabria and Palermo, Dame Grand Cross of Justice of the Order, visited the Breast Unit of the Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital Foundation of Rome, following the recent donation of 10 000 euros made by the Constantinian Order of Saint George in favour of the research and prevention of breast cancer in young women.

This donation was strongly wanted by the Duchess of Calabria and Palermo and was made during the month dedicated to the prevention of breast cancer, in order to make members of the Order aware of this important issue for Princess Maria Carolina.

At the Hospital, the Princess was welcomed by an Italian excellence in the fight against oncological diseases, Dr. Vittorio Altomare, Director of the Senology Unit and in charge of Breast Unit of the Hospital with some doctors of his team, Dr. Giuseppe Tonini, Direction of the Medical Oncology Unit with a doctor of his team, Dr. Sofia Diana, in charge of Patient Care Management, PR Manager and Communication and Brand Management Area of the facility.

During the visit, the eldest daughter of TRH Princes Charles and Camilla of Bourbon Two Sicilies asked several questions to the Directors of the Medical Oncology Unit as well as explanations on senology’s activities with special focus on breast cancer especially in young women.

A moving meeting was held with some patients, two of whom have already been cured of breast cancer at the meeting room of the General Management of the Hospital. They told HRH Princess Maria Carolina about their experience, their course of treatment and the help – not only psychological and medical – that the Hospital provided them during the fight against the oncological disease.

At the end of the meeting, which marks the closing of Pink October, a month dedicated to the prevention of breast cancer, both sides confirmed their wish to cooperate again on further projects in support of women.
