Establishment of the “Princess Maria Carolina, Duchess of Calabria and Palermo” scholarship

On April 28th, in the presence of H.E. Monsignor Antonino Raspanti, an agreement was signed between the Local Health Authority of Catania, represented by Dr. Maurizio Lanza and the Constantinian Order Charity Onlus, represented by H.R.H. Princess Beatrice of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Grand Prefect.The event took place at the Episcopal Palace of Acireale. A three-year scholarship called “Princess Maria Carolina, Duchess of Calabria and Palermo” was established to train medical specialists in dentistry who will deal with implantology for the disabled people. The scholarship, therefore, was established in favour of the Special Rehabilitative Dentistry Unit of the Hospital S.Marta and S.Venera in Acireale. Nice words full of gratitude for the scholarship institution were expressed by Prof. Riccardo Spampinato, director of the department and by the mayor of Acireale Stefano Alì.

The Palm Sunday rite took place at the Cathedral of Monreale, in the presence of many Knights and Dames of the delegation.

On April 3rd, Father Saverio Maria Cento celebrated at the Church San Francesco di Paola in Palermo the 25th anniversary of his priestly ordination that he had received in Naples on April 2nd, 1997.

On April 11st 2022, the project “Briciole di Salute” reached the Franciscan Sisters of the city of Patti.

On April 13th, H.R.H. Princess Beatrice of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Grand Prefect, donated numerous packages of food San Corrado canteen in Noto. Immediately afterwards, H.R.H. Princess Beatrice, accompanied by the Representative of Noto Marcello Cantone, was received at the episcopal palace by the Bishop of Noto H.E. Bishop Antonio Staglianò.

On Good Friday, April 15th, the Vice Delegate of the Sicilian delegation, accompanied by Knight Giovanni Impastato, donated to the Santa Maria Maddalena Mother Church in Borgetto, headed by Father Gioacchino Capizzi, parish administrator and Chaplain from the Ingrassia Hospital in Palermo, several products of the project “Briciole di Salute”.

On April 13rd, Lawyer Antonino Amato, with Mr. Massimo Putrino, Mr. Giuseppe Di Gregorio and Mr. Giuseppe D’Urso, donated food to the “Madonna della Tenda di Cristo” structure.

On April 13rd, the first distribution of products in the framework of the project “Briciole di Salute” took place in Monreale.

On April 19th, the Church San Vito a Mare in Mazara del Vallo was erected, with Canonical Decree of H. E. Mons Domenico Mogavero, Bishop of Mazara, as a Diocesan Sanctuary.
In addition to some priests from the diocesan clergy and civil and military authorities, a large group of Constantinian Knights participated in the solemn liturgy.

On April 22, H.R.H. Princess Beatrice of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Grand Prefect, accompanied by the Vice Delegate of Sicily and by Mr. Claudio Ragusa, was received by Father Vittorio Rizzone at the Abbey of S. Martino delle Scale. For the occasion, Princess Beatrice donated some products for early childhood to the Benedictine Caritas, directed by Father Bernardo.

On April 22, during the visit to the Basilica Magione in Palermo, H.R.H. Princess Beatrice of Bourbon Two Sicilies participated in the delivery of about 120 kg of pasta for the Caritas of the Basilica. The parish priest Mons. Salvatore Grimaldi welcomed the Princess.

The solemn Eucharistic Celebration in honour of Saint George took place on April 23 at the Church San Giacomo Maggiore in Messina. Msgr. Mario Di Pietro presided over the mass.
A special thanks to Dr. Milazzo who handled the reception as well as Dr. Gambadoro for having been the master of ceremonies.

On April 22, after the meeting with the Reverend of S. Martino delle Scale, Father Vittorio Rizzone, Princess Beatrice of Bourbon Two Sicilies, accompanied by Noble Dr. Antonio di Janni and by Mr. Claudio Ragusa, was received in Monreale at the Episcope by H.E. Mons. Michele Pennisi, Archbishop of Monreale and Prior of Sicily. During the cordial conversation, the Vice Delegate told Msgr. Pennisi and the Princess in advance of the event that will take place at the Cathedral of Monreale on May 6: a free concert, sponsored by the Delegation of Sicily and the parish of Cathedral. It is a classical music concert, whose proceeds will be donated to the diocesan Caritas that welcomes some Ukrainian families.

On, Wednesday March 2nd Msgr. Salvatore Grimaldi celebrated the function of the Ash Wednesday at Basilica Magione where a huge group of Sicilian Knights and Dames attended. In his homily, Archbishop Grimaldi pointed out that the day of the Ash Wednesday is not a day of pain, but of hope and peace and that “the gesture of ashes on the head cancels out our egoism and projects us towards the Easter light”.

On Friday, after the ceremony of the Holy Ashes, Mr. Salerno, Mr. Lipari and Mr. Cacioppo met Father Rino Randazzo in Castelvetrano and delivered medicines and food. Father Randazzo joyfully received these Knights to whom he expressed his gratitude for this generous donation. During the meeting, a moment of prayer and a thought was dedicated to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.

On Wednesday, March 9, the first distribution of products for children from zero to three years took place in Monreale. Diapers, milk, pasta and baby food were donated to 25 children, including many newborns.

On Friday, March 11, the Sicilian delegation participated in the collection of basic products to help refugees in Ukraine. These products were delivered at the church of Saint Francis in Ficarazzi (near Palermo). These donations included children’s clothing, blankets, sheets, clothing of various kinds and some medicines.

On March 11, a mass was celebrated in honor of Blessed Mary Christine in Barrafranca.
Cav. Matteo Bertino, Cav. Balsam Alessandro, Cav. Marco Milazzo, Cav. Claudio Fazzi, Cav. Vincenzo Graci and Mrs Giuseppina Crescimanna, as well as the distinguished Constantino Giuseppe Mastrobuono attended the Holy Mass, celebrated by the Chaplain of the Order Fr Luigi Sansone and concelebrated by Fr Francesco Bondà.
On that occasion, the Delegation of Sicily offered various food, medicines, clothes and toys for children in order to alleviate the suffering of the Ukrainian population. The donated products were delivered to the Salesians who will ensure that they reach the population hit by the war.

Saturday, March 19, the Vice Delegate for Sicily and Mr. Claudio Ragusa donated some products from the “Briciole di Salute” Project at the Benedictine Caritas in San Martino delle Scale.

On Wednesday, March 23, Mrs. Lia Giangreco and Mrs. Antonella Zito distributed some products to 25 children from needy families. The donation took place at church Maria SS degli Agonizzanti in Monreale.

On Friday, March 25, the Vice Delegate of the Sicilian delegation and the meritorious Lia Giangreco donated diapers and baby food for the new children welcomed in the “Casa del Sorriso” structure in Monreale.

On March 24th, a cultural meeting was held at the Monreale Town Hall in which a short film was presented to the city, directed by the director Linda Ferrante and sponsored by the Delegation of Sicily, aimed at publicizing the situation of Afghan women, after the advent of the Taliban regime.
