ALESSANDRIA – ACTIVITIES DURING THE MONTH OF JANUARY

The month of January marked the resumption of activities for the Order in Alessandria. Following appointment of the new Representative, Knight Roberto Piccinini, a full schedule of activities was planned.
The points of reference for the activities of the Order, as indicated by the Delegate Count Carlo Gustavo Figarolo di Groppello and Vice Delegate Dott. Mario Baschirotto, are two: evidence of faith and charity, represented by service to the needy, the foundation of the project established by the Grand Master of the Order, H.R.H. Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro: “The Hunger of our Neighbor”.
On January 8, on the day of the Baptism of our Lord, the Knights and Dames renewed their baptismal vows and received from the Representative a copy of the Knight’s Prayer (recited at the conclusion of the ceremony) and the Vademecum prepared by the Grand Prior of the Order: “For a Spiritual Path of the Constantinian Knights and Dames”.
On January 28 the Knights and Dames convened once again in honor of the Blessed Maria Cristina of Savoy, Queen of the Two Sicilies. In this case also all received, together with an image of the Blessed Cristina and related prayer, narrative of the person of the Blessed Queen.
On January 31, the Vice Delegate and Representative, together with several Knights of the Delegation donated to the “Piccolo Cottolengo di Don Orione” of Tortona a significant number of articles of clothing to be donated to the young guests ( suffering from serious handicaps) of the facility.
A visit to the adjacent Sanctuary of the Madonna della Guardia, repository of the body of San Luigi Orione, “Apostle of charity and father of the poor”, as defined by San Giovanni Paolo II, concluded the day and the month’s activities.

TORINO, 31 JANUARY – DONATION OF CLOTHING

Torino, 31 January, 2017 – On January 31, 2017, the Delegation for the Regions of Piemonte and Valle d’Aosta, represented by the Vice Delegate Dott. Mario Rodolfo Baschirotto, together with several Knights and Candidates, organized a collection of clothing and blankets to be distributed to meet the needs of the less fortunate, donating it to the Cottolengo Institute in the City of Torino.

This initiative is part of the great project called “The Hunger of our Neighbor” so strongly sponsored by His Royal Highness Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro and Grand Master of our glorious Order.
The Vice Delegate expressed his appreciation to Cav. Nicolò Papurello for his indispensable contribution.

SICILY DELEGATION – ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT IN JANUARY

Palermo, January 2017 – During the month of January the always active Sicilian Delegation carried out numerous activities in support of the less fortunate.
On January 18 the regular distribution of products for infants took place in Monreale, as part of the program “Crumbs of health”. The Vice Delegate, Nob. Dott. Antonio di Janni and several Knights and volunteers distributed more than 120 liters of milk, diapers, 90 containers of homogenized baby food, cookies, pastries and 90 kg of pastina to approximately 50 children of needy families.

To assist several groups of seniors during a particularly cold season when temperatures dipped well below Sicilian averages, the Delegation purchased and distributed bed warmers to needy seniors living in senior care facilities or living in precarious conditions without heat.
On January 21 the Vice Delegate, always attentive to combining charity initiatives with cultural ones of the Knights and Dames of the Delegation organized the first concert of 2017, XI Concerto Season directed by Maestro Alberto Giacchino in the Constantinian Basilica della Magione in Palermo.
Soprano Dalila Alessandra Virga and guitar virtuoso Dario Cirrito performed Spanish music of the 1700s and 1800s.
At the conclusion of the performance, Mons. Salvatore Grimaldi, Constantinian priest and chaplain, together with Nob. Dott. Sergio Emanuele di Torralta, Knight of Grace, conferred the Sicilian Delegation’s certificates of appreciation to the two performers.

RELIGIOUS CEREMONY IN HONOR OF CRISTINA OF SAVOY, THE BLESSED QUEEN OF NAPLES AND THE TWO SICILIES

Friday, 27 January 2017 – At the invitation of the Delegate and Prior of the Dynastic Orders of the House of Savoy, Don Maurizio Ceriani, the Delegation for Milano and Lombardy attended Holy Mass in honor of the Blessed Cristina of Savoy who married Ferdinand II of the Two Sicilies in 1832, becoming the queen consort of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.
Representing the Constantinian Order at the ceremony were: H.E. Nobile Dott. Alberto Lembo, Grand Inquisitor, Vicar Delegate Nob. Dott. Giuseppe Rizzani and Ecclesiastical Knight of Grace Don Simone Rolandi, representing the Prior, in addition to many faithful and devoted Constantinian and Mauritian Knights and Dames.

LECCO E BRESCIA – DONAZIONE DI ARTICOLI DI ABBIGLIAMENTO INVERNALE

Brescia, 18 gennaio 2017 – La Delegazione di Milano e Lombardia, per la collaborazione delle Rappresentanze di Lecco e Brescia, ha consegnato alla Caritas Diocesana di Brescia, Fondazione San Martino, un importante quantitativo di articoli di abbigliamento invernale composto da 73 imballaggi per un totale di 7600 articoli.

Questa iniziativa si colloca nell’ambito del accordo tra la Delegazione di Lombardia dell’Ordine e la Caritas Diocesana, presieduta dal Vescovo di Brescia, così come è chiesto dalle indicazioni del Cardinale Gran Priore al fine di incentivare sempre più le relazioni e i rapporti di collaborazione con le realtà diocesane di tutte le delegazioni al fine di accreditare sempre più in questo senso le opere caritative dell’Ordine.
