CAMPANIA: EVENTS IN TORRE DEL GRECO, PORTICI AND SAN GIORGIO A CREMANO IN THE PRESENCE OF H.R.H. THE GRAND PREFECT

On December 5th, HRH Princess Beatrice of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Grand Prefect, accompanied by Marquise Federica de Gregorio Cattaneo dei Principi di Sant’Elia, Delegate of Naples and Campania, visited the Coral Museum of the Institute Francesco Degni in Torre del Greco. Her Royal Highness was welcomed by the school director, Rossella Di Matteo, and was able to see precious examples of works created by students and teachers, as well as works from donations or purchases. The students then carried out a practical demonstration in the school’s laboratories.

Also on the same date, the Grand Prefect visited the Baronial Palace of Torre del Greco, whicj is the main venue of the Municipality and of cultural events. HRH the Grand Prefect was received by the Mayor Giovanni Palomba and visited the Palace where an exhibition entitled Arte a Palazzo had been set up.

In addition, Princess Beatrice visited the MAVV Museum in the Royal Palace in Portici and was received by mayor Vincenzo Cuomo, also in the presence of Eugenio Gervasio and the director of the Department of Agriculture, Matteo Lorito. Princess Beatrice also visited the Museum of Art and Wine.

Princess Beatrice paid tribute to the students of the “Carlo Urbani” high school in San Giorgio a Cremano, by participating in the educational project “Citizenship and Constitution” which was held at the prestigious Villa Bruno. Her Royal Highness was received by the mayor Giorgio Zinno, in the presence of the cultural adviser Pietro De Martino and the president of the municipal council, Giuseppe Giordano. Princess Beatrice answered many questions formulated directly by the students on how to understand the role of nobility today illustrating, among others, the commitment of the members of the Royal House in the promotion of charitable works.

On January 8th, the first distribution of the year for the project Briciole di Salute was held in Monreale. The Vice Delegate, along with Mr. Gregory Dendramis, Mr. Marco Scolaro, Ms. Lia Giangreco, Ms. Sonia Lo Monaco and Ms. Antonella Zito, offered products for fifty children from zero to three years old.

On January 6th, the Sicilian delegation distributed sweets and toys to children as part of the Briciole di Salute project at the Maria SS degli Agonizzanti church in Monreale. The Vice Delegate, Mrs. Giovana Galli and Mrs. Sonia Lo Monaco also distributed 100 pairs of shoes received by the association “Doniamo un Sorriso Smile Live”.

After the Holy Mass of the Epiphany, which was held at the Basilica La Magione, the traditional distribution of sweets was held in favour of the most needy children of the parish. The delegation distributed more than 100 Epiphany stockings and gifts to these children.

On December 27th, a group of knights carried out the usual food distribution as part of the “Briciole di Salute” project in Paternò.

On December 30th, the usual distribution of products for children took place at the premises of S. Stefano Church in Piazza Armerina.

On December 22nd Mgr. Salvatore Grimaldi celebrated a Mass for Knights and Dames on the occasion of Christmas. Mgr Grimaldi also announced the twinning of the parish of Magione with a parish of Senegal. Many knights and Dames, the Vice Delegate and Baron Vincenzo Calefati di Canalotti, Knight of Justice of the Order and Delegate for Western Sicily of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta attended, too.

During the Christmas holidays, the representatives of the delegation continued to distribute gifts and food to lonely and needy people. The Missionary Sisters of Charity of Calcutta who live in Genoa Prà wanted to thank the delegation for its help, and in turn offered some gifts.

Reggio Calabria, December 28th, 2019– Knights and Dames of the delegation coming from all the Calabrian provinces gathered at the Church Santa Maria della Candelora in Reggio Calabria to participate in the Eucharistic celebration presided by H.E.R. Mgr Luigi Vittorio Mondello, Prior of the Delegation and Archbishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Reggio Calabria – Bova, and concelebrated by Monsignor Luigi Cannizzo, Vice Prior and by Monsignor Antonio Morabito. A celebration which recalled the spirit of Christmas and the values ​​of Christianity. The important liturgy ended with the reading of the Constantinian Knight’s prayer by Mr. Aurelio Badolati, Vice Delegate. Subsequently, the confreres and their families gathered in a Christmas feast during which some of the most important moments of the year were recounted.

Reggio Calabria, December 22nd – The delegation offered and served the “fraternity lunch”. After the Eucharistic celebration which took place at the Church Santa Maria Della Candelora, a lunch was served to the poorest and needy families of the region. The Dames, Knights and volunteers participated with great generosity by preparing and offering approximately 180 meals. Vice Delegate Aurelio Badolati was very touched, given the enthusiasm and participation of the delegation.

The members of the representation of Bergamo and Como, including the representative Mrs. Grillo, provided food which was served during the dinner on December 26th to around 800 disadvantaged families and homeless. The dinner took place at the former Galgario monastery of the diocesan Caritas.

Brescia, January 1st 2020 – The first day of the new year represented the symbolic start of the charitable commitments of all Knights. The lunch of January 1st, in fact, was offered and served by a group of knights in support of volunteers from the Menni canteen of the Diocesan Caritas in Brescia. The delegation, guided by Prior Arnaldo Morandi, was composed of Mr. Maurizio Mirandola with Ms. Silvana Vezzoli, Mr. Roberto Bertoli, Mr. Mario Fortunato, Mr. Fabio Serravalle, Mr. Ferrari Gualtiero. On January 1st all meals were offered by Mr. Gianni Paroni.

Nave (BS), December 27th 2019 – Mr. Maurizio Mirandola, having received a request of support from the director of the Pontifical and Salesian University “Paolo VI” of Nave, Father Erino Leoni, coordinated the delivery of 26 quintals of wood for homeless shelters.
