Vatican City – June 12, 2014. The Most Eminent Cardinal Grand Prior Renato Raffaele Martino was appointed Cardinal Protodeacon by His Holiness Pope Francis, on the occasion of the Ordinary Public Consistory for the canonization of the some of the blessed. It is he Cardinal Proto-Deacon’s duty, among other tasks, of announcing the outcome of the election of the Roman Pontiff, with the famous formula of “Annuntio vobis gaudium magnum: habemus Papam”, delivered from the central balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica .
 
H.R.H. the Prince Grand Master and other Grand Officers of the Order have addressed messages of congratulations to the Most Eminent Cardinal by expressing “sincere congratulations for a well-deserved recognition which further enhances his merits in the service rendered to the Holy See and the Catholic Church “.

Kosovo, 23 May 2014 –  Her Excellency Mrs Atifete Jahjaga, President of the Republic of Kosovo was invested as a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Francis I and a Gold Benemerenti Medalist of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George.

The President’s investiture took place at the Office of the President in Kosovo and was conducted by His Eminence Renato Raffaele, Cardinal Martino, Grand Prior of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George on behalf of HRH Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro and Grand Master. The investiture took place as part of the International Interfaith Conference organised by Kosovo Foreign Ministry, in partnership with the Tony Blair Faith Foundation and Community of St Egiddio, sponsored by the British Council, Norwegian Embassy and US Embassy in Kosovo.

Cardinal Martino also invested His Excellency Mr Hashim Thaçi, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo as a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Francis I and Mr Petrit Selimi, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kosovo as a Knight Commander of the Royal Order of Francis I.
These awards were granted in recognition of the work done in recent years in Kosovo by these individuals for peace-building and the example they set with their work for all faith and ethnic communities in Kosovo and the Balkan region.

01284The President of Kosovo, on the other hand, bestowed the Mother Teresa Humanitarian Medal to both the Grand Master H.R.H. Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro and to His Eminence Renato Raffaele Cardinal Martino, Grand Prior of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George.

 

The Mother Teresa Humanitarian Medal, one of the highest national honours of Kosovo, was awarded in high recognition in administering charitable, humanitarian and spiritual activities in Kosovo.
H.E. Mr. Anthony Bailey, Delegate for Great Britain and Ireland & Grand Magistral Delegate for Inter-Religious Relations of the Constantinian Order and Mr. Alberto Janelli, Private Secretary to H.R.H. The Duke of Castro, also attended.

April 2nd, 2014 – HRH The Prince and Grand Master personally handed the nomination to H.E. Mr. Philippe Narmino , Minister of Justice of the Principality of Monaco, bestowing on him the diploma and insignia of Commander of Merit with Star. The ceremony, held at the residence of the members of the Board of the Association Mr. and Mrs. Lopez de la Osa, also attending were the Grand Master’s Consort, HRH The Duchess of Castro; H.E. Michel Roger, Minister of State of the Principality; H.E. Jacques Boisson, Secretary of State; H.E. Paul Masseron, Minister of the Interior; H.E. Joseph Badia, Minister of Foreign Affairs; H.E. Hugues Moret, Ambassador of France; H.E. Antonio Morabito, Italian Ambassador and Mr. Michel Boeri, President of the Automobile Club of Monaco .
Also present Count Niccolò Caissotti Chiusano, President of the Monegasque Association of the Constantinian Order, who said he was particularly proud of the entrance of Philippe Narmino in our Order since that endows the high professional careers within the highest authorities of the Principality with great merit .

Concurrently with the appointment of the Minister of Justice, the President of the Association has delivered to the Minister of the Interior and Mrs. Isabelle Bonnal, Minister of Education, a letter of intent with which some Constantinian Knights and Dames of the Principality , including Eng. Claudio Marzocco, Baroness Mariuccia Zerilli  Marimò, Mr. and Mrs. Lopez de la Osa and Mr. Frederico Limiti, undertake to promote the project ” Mieux enseigner, mieux apprendre, le numerique à l’Ecole ” with a large sum. This is an important initiative, particularly innovative in Monaco, that will offer students the opportunity to use advanced technological equipment for their studies.

Duc_5122Lisbon, 6 February 2014. HRH Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro and Grand Master of the Sacred Military Constantinian of St George was invested as a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Order of the Immaculate Conception of Vila Viçosa at a ceremony held at Lisbon Cathedral.

The investiture ceremony and mass was presided over by the head of the Roman Catholic Church in Portugal, His Beatitude Manuel III, Patriarch of Lisbon.

The insignia and diploma were presented to the Duke of Castro by HRH Dom Duarte, Duke of Braganca, Head of the Royal House of Portugal and Grand Master.

This investiture marks another milestone in the warm and cordial relations between both Royal Houses of Naples and Portugal. The late Prince Ferdinand, Duke of Castro was a previous recipient of this Order.

The Order was created by King John VI of Portugal in 1818 and is primarily bestowed upon Heads of State and Royal Houses, members of the Portuguese nobility and on Portuguese and foreign nationals in recognition of their services to the Portuguese Royal House, the Catholic Church and to charitable endeavour in Portugal and abroad.

Over 200 persons attended the ceremony and a formal luncheon was held before the ceremony at the Turf Club hosted by TRH The Duke and Duchess of Braganza.

Shortly before the ceremony the Duke of Castro and accompanying delegation called upon the Apostolic Nuncio to the Portuguese Republic, HE Archbishop Rino Passigato at the Apostolic Nunciature in Lisbon.

On the eve of the investiture at the residence of the Delegate for Portugal of the Constantinian Order, HE Baron Miguel Horta e Costa a dinner was held in honour of HRH The Duke of Castro. Among those attending were TRH The Duke and Duchess of Braganza, TRH Prince and Princess Charles-Philippe of Orléans, Duchess Claudine of Cadaval, Diane de Polignac de Barros, HE Miguel de Polignac de Barros, Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Portuguese Republic, HE Mr Anthony Bailey, OBE, Grand Magistral Delegate for Inter-Religious Relations of the Constantinian Order and former Lord Mayor of London Sir Gavyn Arthur.

Lisbon – 6 February 2014. The Minister of State and of Foreign Affairs of the Portuguese Republic, His Excellency Rui Machete, received at the Necessidades Palace in Lisbon HRH Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro and Grand Master of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George.
After receiving a formal welcome to Portugal, the Duke of Castro outlined to the Foreign Minister a number of the charitable, humanitarian, hospitaller and inter-religious project undertaken globally by the Constantinian Order. The Duke also announced his intention for the Constantinian Order to adopt for charitable purposes several projects in Portugal and expressed his desire to promote more widely the worthy goals of the Order across Portugal.

Attending the meeting were the Delegate of Portugal of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George His Excellency Baron Miguel Horta e Costa and the Grand Magistral Delegate Inter-Religious Relations, HE Mr Anthony Bailey, OBE.
