Molise: “Madonna dei Monti”, “Infiorata” and participation in the procession of the Mysteries

Sunday 2nd June 2024, on the day of Corpus Christi, the “Procession of the Mysteries”, which is the most awaited and important event for the city of Campobasso, took place. During the procession, 13 big “living pictures”, the Mysteries, paraded through the streets of the city. According to tradition, the “paintings” stopped in front of the city hall, from whose main balcony the blessing of Archbishop H.E. Biagio Colaianni reached the huge crowd. Several Constantian Knights were invited to attend the solemen event by the city’s Mayor Paola Felice. The Delegation of the Order, with the Secretary Commander Giuseppe D’Amico and the Master of Ceremonies Knight Michele di Maioha, brought greeting to H.E. Monsignor Colaianni and to the Mayor Paola Felice, along with the heartfelt congratulations of the Order’s Delegate of Molise, Don Ettore d’Alessandro, Duke of Pescolanciano.

CAMPOBASSO, 31st MAY, 2024 – Invited by the fraternity of the Frati Minori Cappuccini of Campobasso, a large group of the Molise Delegation, led by its Secretary, Commander Giuseppe D’Amico, attended in Campobasso the solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by H.E. Monsignor Biagio Colaianni, in honour of Maria Santissima Incoronata del Monte, together with Knight Roberto D’Aloisio, Cristian De Paola, Giuseppe Di Nonno, and the postulants Dafne D’Amico and Michele Tartaglia.
After the ceremony, the procession of “Madonna dei Monti” followed, one of those traditions rooted in the culture of the people of Campobasso.
The now famous carpets of flowers, also known as “Infiorata”, are prepared before the procession; another well-established tradition, born in 1800, which has continued every year since then.

The Cathedral of SS. Trinità was reopened for the faithful of Molise on the afternoon of Sunday 26th May 2024, on the feast of the Trinity Sunday, the main church of Campobasso is dedicated to. With the opening of the doors of the basilica to the faithful, it was possible to show the splendid and precious artistic heritage contained in it, which has recently been recovered and restored.
H.E. Monisgnor Biagio Colaianni, Archbishop of Campobasso-Mojano, together with H.E. Monsignor Giancarlo Maria Bregatini, Archbishop emeritus, presided over the moving and powerful religious ceremony, surrounded by a significant presence of the faithful and civil and military authorities.
A representation of the Molise Delegation was invited to join this solemn event. The Knights attending the ceremony were: Secretary Commander Giuseppe D’Amico and Knight Michele Di Maio, with whom Archbishop Giancarlo M. Bregantini, Knight Grand Cross of Ecclesiastical Grace, shared a jovial and fraternal moment of greeting at the end of the ceremony. On this occasion, the Archbishop himself confirmed his availability for spiritual collaboration with the Order, as Prior of the Delegation.

On June 7th, 2024 in the Basilica of Sant’Eustorgio in Milan, the investiture ceremony of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George and the Royal Order of Francis I was held for the Lombardy Delegation.

Lumezzane (BS), 18th May 2024 – Knight Romano Savi and the honoree Francesca Ghidine delivered to Caritas of Lumezzane, headed by Father Michele Tognazzi, different food items that, in turn, will be delivered to the needy families. These food items come from the collection at Conad supermarkets.

Brescia, 28th May 2024 – Knight Maurizio Mirandola, together with Prior Monsignor Morandi, delivered part of the food items from the collection at Conad supermarkets to Fondazione Tanghetti and Chiari Onlus. The food items will be put in boxes that will be delivered to the needy family.

Sunday 21th April, at Insigne Collegiata of Casei Gerola, a Holy Mass was celebrated by the Representative Father Maurizio Ceriani in honour of Saint George in the presence of the Delegate and of several Knights and Dames. For the occasion two donation of medical supplies were made to the Azienda di Servizi alla Persona of Pavia.

Milan, 9th May – At the headquarters of the Comando Esercito Lombardia, the new Commander Brigadier General Carmine Sepe invited Delegate Count Giuseppe Rizzani to a reception with the local authorities to introduce himself and illustrate the initiatives he is planning for the Delegation.

The next day, on the occasion of the mak ceremony, the best students of the course Ferrari III of the Scuola Militare Teulie’ of Milan, in the presence of the General of the Army Carlo La Manna, Commander for the training, specialisation and doctrine of the Army and Confrere Commander of the Scuola Antonio Calligaris, received our medal of merit from the Delegate.

The first meeting of the Basilicata delegation following the entry of new Dames and Knights was held in Picerno on June 15. The convivial meeting was also very useful to take a review of the Order’s activities in Lucania and to set up new initiatives, always in the Constantinian spirit.

Reggio Calabria, 24th May 2024 – On the occasion of the festivity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Help of Christians, the Calabria Delegation decided to join in a solidarity and shared gesture by organising a donation of 50 hot meals, for the needy families assisted by Caritas in the Parish of Santa Maria della Candelora. With the blessing of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Help of Christians, the Delegation proved that love and solidarity can make a difference, brightening even the dark moments with the light of hope and sharing. For this reason, the Delegation thanks Knight Antonio Campolo, without whom this donation could not have taken place.

Also this year, on the occasion of the Feast of Corpus Christi, the Kinghts and Dames living in Cosenza had the honour of welcoming the arrival of the Holy Cross in the Parish of Santa Teresa, led by Monsignor Dario de Paola, Chaplain for the city of Cosenza.
The procession, led by the Archbishop, passed through the streets of the city among the crowds of the faithful who, in reverence, witnessed their attachment and devotion to it.

In reaction to another migrants’ landing on June the 8th, the Calabria Delegation decided to make a significant donation of food and clothing to the Italian Red Cross, with the aim of providing immediate and concrete assistance to those who need it most. The donation, carried out in Roccella Jonica’s port, was organised thanks to the collaboration with the committee “riviera dei gelsomini” of the Italian Red Cross in Roccella Jonica, and included a wide range of non-perishable food, clothing suitable for all ages, toys for children and essential items.

Friday 14th June 2024, the Calabria Delegation was invited to participate in the return of the Judith and Holofernes painting to the church of Maria Santissima del Rosario in Bagnara Calabra. The invitation was offered by Angelo Ruggiero, Prior of the Archconfraternity of Maria Santissima del Rosario, in order to worthily thank the Constantinian Order for its commitment to the project of restoring the painting.

“A day between art and faith”, this was the formula used to announce the beautiful initiative that gathered together almost the entire Calabria Delegation in Bisignano. In the city’s cathedral a liturgical service was held and celebrated by the parish priest and archpriest Father Giulio Cesare De Rosis and Monsignor Dario De Paola, Chaplain of the Cosenza Representation, during which the Delegate and Vicar Delegate officiated two new nominations. Afterwards, the participants were able to admire the precious Museo Diocesano di Arte Sacra. The visit then ended at the convent of Sant’Umile.

The Vicar Delegate of Calabria region, Knight Grand Cross of Merit Aurelio Badolati, and the Representative for the city of Crotone, Knight of Grace Antonio Oliverio, first offered, then cooked and finally served hot meals to about 160 people at the Crotone soup kitchen.

Once again, just a few days later, the Knights and Dames living in Crotone returned to the “Padre Pio” soup kitchen, created by Monsignor Pancrazio Limina. Thanks to the active commitment of Confrere Vito Michele De Caro, Knight of Merit, a hundred kilograms of pulses and cereals were delivered, which will then be cooked in various ways, to be served to about 150 people.
